    - Setup as default browser

A new module, new settings screen and a couple nice style additions.

Not a very big update, but still with a couple interesting features!

New version of Url checker ⇾ URLCheck (V 2.8)

V 2.8
- Renamed app from 'Url Checker' to 'URLCheck'
- New japanese translation. Thanks to 404potato!
- New Pattern Checker samples and improvements
- New setting to sort apps per-domain
- New setting to close after sharing
- New setting to hide the source app (referrer)
- Allow disabling all modules
- Improved About activity
- Internal tooling improvements

The app is nicely improving bit by bit.

This update has a few minor new settings to the open module and pattern checker module, as well as other tweaks to the about and general screens.

The main change however is the name change. From 'Url checker' (which was translated in other locales) to 'URLCheck' (not translated). This should help by creating a 'brand' (if I ever need one), hopefully the new name is similar enough to not cause confusion (at least for english).

New version of Simple Clipboard Editor (V 1.5)

V 1.5
- Sent text to the app
- Edit selected text (Android 6.0+)

A very minor update with two interesting features.

Now you can send text to the app to directly copy (and edit) it.

Additionally, on Android 6.0+, you can also select any text and press the 'copy and edit' option (probably after pressing the three dots button). If the copied text was from an editable input, any edit will be set back in the original input!

Some users use this to input text in a bigger textview than the original one.

New version of Click to chat (V 4.2 & V4.2.1)

V 4.2
- New Call & SMS buttons

V 4.2.1
- Fix autofill hints

Because why not, have been suggested as improvement over the years a couple times and it was easy and short to implement.

The buttons are on the expanded layout (with the share and shortcut buttons)

EDIT: a new quick fix was uploaded to address an issue and fix the autofill hints. They were being incorrectly detected as something other than phone number hints.

New version of Url Checker (V 2.6)

V 2.6
- Colors!
- Improved Queries remover module
- Improved Patterns checker module
- New module: Log
- New Turkish translation. Thanks to Metezd!
- New Hebrew translation. Thanks to Nhman Mazuz!
- Minor tweaks and fixes

This is a color update! I've tweaked the icons so that they use the device color, and also styled the open button (I really like it). Everything colored should mean it's interactable now, and viceversa.

There are also some improvements in the queries (shows the decoded query that you can check) and the patterns (when auto applied, shows they were applied) modules.

There is a new module too: Log. Registers all checked urls in a text log, that you can view/edit/clear. In the future this may become more powerful, now it's simple but effective.

There are also two new translations to Turkish by Metezd and Hebrew by Nhman Mazuz.

And other minor tweaks and fixes (that you can check in GitHub if you want).

On other news, the GitHub readme had a massive upgrade! It even have badges now!

Last, but not least, a special thanks to Ilithy. My first Patron, suggested the Log module and helped with the Readme upgrade among other small improvements on the app and repository. THANKS!

New version of Url checker (V 2.5)

V 2.5
- Advanced JSON editor for ClearURLs and Patterns
- The ClearURLs database can now be updated
- Added Spanish translation
- Styles and texts improvements

Due to a pull reuqest by PabloOQ that allowed the ClearURLs module to be updated (something I wanted since the beginning) I couldn't resist to allow editing the catalog yourself with a new (but still in beta) json editor! I added it to the patterns module too, and I would like to add it to other modules as well.

I also added the spanish translation (by myself) and a few improvements to styles, specially for white themes.

New version of Click to chat (V 4.1.3)

V 4.1.3
- New French update. Many thanks to Nathanaël Gagnepain!
- Translation updates
- Fixed some very rare crashes

Update! A new french translation is now available, many thanks to Nathanaël Gagnepain!

The Indonesian translator translated almost all the missing strings, and it was the perfect opportunity for a quick update.

I also fixed some of the top reported crashes (except the ones from the device vendors where I have no control). They are extremely rare crashes (affecting less than 50 users, and the app is used by 1.4 million) but they were easy so why not. For such a daily use the number of crashes is extremely low...I wonder if there is a record to beat or a contest to apply to...

New version of Url Checker (V 2.4)

V 2.4
- Added French translation. Thanks to Ilithy!
- Added Ukranian translation. Thanks to Idris!
- Automatic dark/white theme

This app is getting all the attention! I should update Click to chat...

Anyway this update is a partial update, contains two translations provided by users! And some theme changes.

Next version should contain even more changes, stay tuned!

New version of Url Checker (V 2.3)

V 2.3
- Allow reordering modules
- Clear urls module can be configured to auto-apply
- Remove queries module can remove individual queries
- Added European Portuguese translation. Thanks to Tiago Carmo!
- Some tweaks and fixes

Two big changes: the ability to reorder modules (was easy and fun) and the ability for modules to 'auto-apply' changes to the urls (was hard and horrible). Also a new translation, and improvement to the remove queries module.

[I really dislike how the auto-apply feature was implemented, but I wasn't able to find a better one :(  ]

14 May 2022

New version of Url Checker (V 2.2)

V 2.2
- New module 'Remove queries module': removes all queries from the url. Thanks to PabloOQ for the idea and original implementation!

PabloOQ provided a pull request with a new module "Remove queries" that removes all the queries of the url ("google.com?foo=bar#something" --> "google.com#something"). It was reviewed, merged, (simplified) and it's now available for all!

Remember that anyone can help and implement other modules or fixes!

New version of Click to chat (V 4.1.2)

V 4.1.2
- Translation updates

This is just a very small update to fix and tweak translation texts. Nothing else.

Will I add something before publishing to stable? Probably not (but if for some reason I do, it wouldn't be the first time)

18 April 2022

New version of Simple Clipboard Editor (V 1.4)

V 1.4
- New shortcut to clear the clipboard directly without opening the app
- Setting to disable automatic sync
- New translation to Portuguese (Brazil) thanks to mezysinc!
- New translation to Spanish
- Fix launcher icon not shown in older android versions

Two new translations! mezysinc sent me the translation to Portuguese/Brazil, and I also made the spanish one.

A new shortcut to clear the clipboard without even opening the app (for privacy reasons I guess). On some launchers it can be accessed by long pressing the app icon, and you can even drag it to the home screen for faster access.

And a new setting to disable the automatic synchronization. When disabled, two new buttons to set/get the clipboard data will be shown

Oh, and I also added the launcher icon as png, unfortunately the svg one is only used on newer android versions.

03 April 2022

New versions of Click to chat (V 4.1 & V 4.1.1)

V 4.1.1
- Fix Signal/Telegram toggles not working in some locales

V 4.1
- Light theme
- Experimental Signal and Telegram support, enable it in settings
- Improved recent calls addon refresh
- Clipboard button always enabled (removed automatic background check)
- Slight optimization when displaying errors

Update: A fix version was published to fix the Signal/Telegram toggles not working if the link was the last element of the switch label (it made the detection logic miss-detect the toggle as part of the link).

  • New! Light theme (or at least what Android calls 'light'). Adding themes had been a hard and very file-heavy thing to do, but android 4.0 made it a bit easier. Since I'm now using that version I was able to add a toggle between 'light/default' themes with just a couple lines of code! This version doesn't have an 'automatic' mode yet, but I'm considering it for the next version.

  • New! Other messaging apps support, because Telegram added it recently and people were requesting it. Their implementation is horrible (if the phone can't be opened it does absolutely nothing), a phone number is not required for a Telegram account (you can remove it) and in order for this feature to work you need to explicitly enable it on Telegram settings. Basically: this is useless. But in some very very rare cases it may be useful, so I added it as experimental, disabled by default, and a big warning is shown when you try to enable it, hopefully people won't complain (they will). The implementation only works for the 'open' feature and may work inconsistently with some openable modes, hopefully next version will improve this and enable the other features (share, shortcut, etc) too. Oh, and it turns out that Signal also have this feature. If the number doesn't have signal it allows sending an sms, but if the number is invalid it also 'just' displays the main screen without any error message (c'mon devs, wasn't WhatsApp the worst option? it isn't here). No warning this time, but marked as experimental too. (And yes, I know that Signal allows opening any number directly from their app, but all the extra logic was already coded for Telegram so...).

  • Changed: The clipboard is now an always-available button that will only ask for the clipboard content when the user request it. Previously you could request listening to clipboard changes, and the app used it to enable/disable the button dynamically. On Android 12 a big warning is shown when any app reads the Clipboard, including this automatic feature, so in order to not scare users all developers are removing it.

There were also other minor updates and a big refactor in how translations are managed, nothing a normal user should notice (but translators will have a bit easier to see the real changes).

Important! This new version will take longer than usual to be available (blame Google and their manually-reviewed restrictions)

12 February 2022

New version of Simple clipboard editor (V 1.2.1 / 1.3)

V 1.2.1 / 1.3
- New setting: Capitalize sentences on input
- Tweaks to texts and visuals of dialogs

A minor fix + feature due to the F-Droid publication.

The version is 1.3, but due to a mistake while publishing on Play Store it is reported as 1.2.1. Both are the same app versions, there are no differences (only the version number).

-----

I also updated the blog to display the app details when you filter by it using the buttons/select above. (I think it looks great!)
