If more than one supported app is found it will ask which one to
open, if there is only one it will be opened directly. Currently
the only 'official' supported apps are WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business,
but it should work with other apps, as long as they are installed as separate packages.
Dual versions: in most cases they won't work, in particular Samsung's dual messenger feature is not supported, but some users have reported that MIUI and maybe other does work.
If you are sure it should work, and isn't, try changing the opening modes (in the app options) or try changing the 'open as default' android settings for the apps involved. If there is another app where it doesn't work feel free to
send me
an email and I'll investigate.
How to use this app?
Please read the description or the main page for a longer explanation.
A short summary is: instead of saving a number into contacts and then
searching it in WhatsApp's list to be able to talk with it; open this app, write the number, and press open. WhatsApp's app will be opened directly on the chat page of that number (if it exists) without modifying your address book.
It says the number 1234 isn't found/doesn't have an active WhatsApp account:
Make sure you wrote it correctly and with the necessary prefixes, the numbers must be in international format (https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/general/21016748 here you will find the official help). Also, make sure you are using the correct opening modes (in the app options) because some like SMS are known to not work properly (in doubt, reinstall).
If WhatsApp says that the number 1234 doesn't have an active WhatsApp account, then that number doesn't have an active WhatsApp account. WhatsApp is the one who are telling that to you, not me. Note that numbers can become inactive, so working numbers can stop working by that.
I don't want saved numbers.
You can disable saving recents by checking the option in the settings screen (top left button). You can also remove individual entries in the recents list by clicking the button next to it

How can I see/spy other people conversations? This simply opens mine.
'This simply opens mine' summarizes the feature you will find, as I write in every description. This app opens a chat with a number for YOU to talk with. You and that number. That easy. This won't allow you to see or spy other people conversations (and you shouldn't be trying to do that).
Will the other person know my number?
Although I can't say it with confidence (WhatsApp doesn't provide any official answer to this topic) I'm quite sure that opening a chat is safe and silent for the other person. HOWEVER if you write a message to that person they will do be able to see the message, your phone number and your profile (and reply back). Remember that WhatsApp is a messaging app where your phone number is your identification, there is no way to hide it, except if you use WhatsApp Business.
You can enable it in the app settings, but it won't probably work because Telegram allows to have accounts without numbers, or even hide the numbers.
The alternative is to use nicknames with a t.me link.
I have another question:
If the question is about my app, just send me an email (link at the bottom). But please note this app is NOT WhatsApp (and it is not affiliated with WhatsApp Inc.) so all questions regarding only the official WhatsApp app should go to them instead (https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/ is their official contact page).
Does it says 'WhatsApp is not installed' when pressing the button? What if you long press the button instead? If it is the official WhatsApp app this may be a bug, if it is another unofficial WhatsApp variant it may not be supported. Anyway if you want to send me an email with more details (device, android version and which WhatsApp app) I will try to find a solution.

The input on the left textbox should be saved as requested (make sure you don't have the 'merge inputs' enabled from the '(i)' menu). It should only be replaced when pasting or opening another number which contains a different country code.
The app allows you to open a chat with numbers not on your contact list (which have a WhatsApp account). Then, once that is opened, you can send text, photos, videos, or whatever WhatsApp allows.
Sorry for the late reply. If you press the bottom right button (the bottom arrow) it should open a textbox to enter a message, that will be autocompleted when opening the number. Is this not working? Or perhaps you mean to automatically paste the data when sharing as text? Currently if you share text it is scanned for numbers, but being able to paste it as a message could be a nice addition. I'll try to look into it.
